The National Science Museum, Thailand, Kasetsart University, Thailand, the Hokkaido University Museum and the Kyoto University of Japan conducted a joint survey to accumulate knowledge about species diversity of coastal fishes in the Andaman Sea, Thailand in December, 2014. As the result of this survey, 46 species were recorded in 7 orders, 22 families and 36 genera. The species Bathygobius hongkongensis Lam, 1986 has been recorded for the first time in the Andaman Sea.
